The Education Platform is more than just a way to find high-quality copies of books and magazines. It’s also a way to conveniently share these with students. Whether you email your copies to students or share them on a Virtual Learning Environment, the Platform is a streamlined way to make sure your students can access the resources they need. So, what to do when what you’re looking for isn’t there?
We’re constantly speaking to rightsholders such as publishers to add new material to the Platform (over the last year we have tripled the number of books we have available!) and we always want to hear what books you’d like to see added. In the meantime, we have added a feature allowing you to upload your own extracts, so you can continue to easily share extracts with your students.
So, what are the benefits of uploading your own extracts?
1: Easy access to content
Extracts you upload to the Education Platform are readily available for other members of staff at your institution to use. So, if you have an extract that’s used in a lot of classes, this only needs to be uploaded once for it to benefit everyone. Plus, the more extracts you upload, the greater variety you can choose from. The more you use it, the better it gets!
2. Data on student engagement
Ever wondered which extracts your students are really interested in? You can access metrics on the Education Platform showing you how often a link has been clicked, helping you decide which extracts to use for your classes, and showing you which extracts are the most popular.
3. Help creators get their fair share
At CLA, we use the data from the Education Platform to help monitor what texts are being used and to ensure that royalties get distributed to the right creator. The Education Platform allows you to respect copyright without any fuss, and uploading your own extract helps ensure that creators get paid fairly for their work.
The most important benefit! Not only is generating a link to send to students a greener way of sharing content, but it is also far quicker than printing out individual extracts for each student. Once you have uploaded your extract it only takes a few clicks to get your content sent out to classes, leaving you with more time to focus on other things.
